Lettering Style Challenge 2025

The result is a series of 31 cards, each featuring the first name of one woman, written in the lettering style of the day, alongside her full name, date and place of birth, nationality, and fields of activity. For each card, I matched the lettering style to the woman it represents by drawing inspiration from her work, achievements, and the colors, patterns, or motifs connected to her story. The 31st card, based on the prompt to design an ampersand, is dedicated to all the women—past, present, and future—who are not included in this short list but whose actions shaped and will continue to shape our world.

This project is both a creative exploration and a celebration of women’s voices, presence, and impact around the world.

This October, I took part in the Lettering Style Challenge created by lettering artist Aurelie Maron, which invites participants to design a different lettering style each day of the month.

I decided to connect the challenge to my ongoing mission of celebrating and raising awareness about women. As I developed the idea, it became clear that I wanted to highlight women who are shaping change across countries, continents, and disciplines. No country or field would be repeated, and I aimed for an equal representation across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America.
